About this Blog

In the last decades of the 20th Century I did some extensive digging in and around my Family Tree. At the same time, my cousin was researching her branch of The Family. When she published it, see Links, I gave her all I had uncovered – which took my paternal line back to the mid 1700s.

Keeping with The Family theme, I created this Blog to publish my late Father’s memoirs – principally to make them available to others in my Family or to those of you who are just curious about lives in the last Century.

Dad (Joshua Richard Harries) was born in 1913 and sadly passed away in 1997. In between, among other things, he worked in The City, was a  professional soldier, ran a pub, and became an antique dealer. He travelled the World and was enriched by his experiences, as were his six children. He was a good husband and very proud of his kids. In his later years he wrote his Autobiography – 279 handwritten A4 pages.

I have a copy of his Memoirs gathering dust in the cellar; but now in the Age of the Internet……… it, and Dad, can be given a new lease of life! Dad reckoned that he had had an interesting life; so do I.

Whether his story continues to “gather dust” out there on the www, is up to you………
